The mega opposition meet, scheduled to be held on June 12 and likely to be attended by 16 opposition parties, was postponed to a later date.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi will be attending the mega opposition meet on 23 June, the Indian opposition party's General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said on Friday.
The meeting has been called by Bihar State Chief Nitish Kumar, who is also the chief of Janata Dal-United (JD-U), with an aim to unite India's opposition against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Parliamentary polls.
Venugopal confirmed the attendance of Kharge and Gandhi while talking to the media as he said that it is high time to have unity between the opposition parties “to fight against these forces who are ruining the country.”
Apart from Gandhi and Kharge, the other prominent opposition leaders who have given their confirmation to attend the meeting include Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, Jharkhand State Chief Hemant Soren, Uddhav Thackeray, Tamil Nadu State Chief MK Stalin, Delhi State Chief Arvind Kejriwal, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja, Sitaram Yechury and Dipankar Bhattacharya.
