A major train accident was averted at the Nigohan railway station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh when the railway tracks on the loopline melted due to intense heat, a railway official said on Sunday.

A major train accident was averted at the Nigohan railway station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh when the railway tracks on the loopline melted due to intense heat, a railway official said on Sunday.According to reports, on Saturday evening, the Nilanchal Express mistakenly traveled on the loop line instead of the main line, which led to the melting of the tracks and altered its shape.The locomotive pilot sensed a jolt caused by the spread of the track and immediately stopped the train.He alerted the officials at the control room and the engineer department, who rushed to the site, detected the problem, and repaired the track.After reaching Lucknow Junction, the locomotive pilot filed a complaint and informed top officials about the incident.The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Lucknow, Suresh Sapra, has ordered an inquiry to investigate the matter thoroughly.Earlier this month, Odisha witnessed one of India's deadliest train crashes when three trains, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and a freight train collided, killing 291 people and injuring over 1,000.
