The Indian Navy's latest stealth submarine "Vagir" docked in Sri Lankan waters on Monday ahead of the International Yoga Day (IDY) celebrations on June 21.However, what's interesting to note is that Vagir's arrival in Colombo comes at a time when a Pakistani warship is already present there. As per the Sri Lankan Navy, Pakistan's naval ship named "Tippu Sultan" reached Colombo on a two-day visit on Sunday. Sri Lanka's maritime force stated that the vessel was 134.1 metre-long and carried a crew of 168 personnel. On the other hand, the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka said that Vagir's visit to its southern neighbour was part of its "Global Ocean Ring" theme and would mark the occasion of International Day of Yoga. The vessel would stay docked at the Colombo Port for four days welcoming visitors and Sri Lankan school children inside it. The High Commission of India is hosting a grand Yoga Day event at the Colombo Port on Wednesday with high-ranking officials of the Indian Navy and Sri Lankan defense personnel, including officers of the Sri Lankan Navy being the participants. Moreover, this isn't the first time the Indian Navy has sent its warships, vessels, or destroyers to Sri Lankan shores. The coordination and partnership between the two navies were in line with New Delhi's "Neighbourhood First" and "Security and Growth for all in the Region (SAGAR)" policies that aim to encourage brotherhood between the two forces.
