With the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) becoming the focal point of India's security apparatus, the Navy has been enhancing its capabilities in every department.
In a major boost to the Indian Navy's capabilities to impart practical training to its personnel, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the modern Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC) "Dhruv" in Kochi city of Kerala state located on the southern tip of the country.
"The ISC 'Dhruv' hosts modern state-of-the-art indigenously-built simulators which will significantly enhance practical training in the Indian Navy," a statement from the Defense Ministry said.
The ministry added that the simulators would provide the Naval staff "real-time experience on navigation, fleet operations and Naval tactics".

Besides Indian soldiers, the simulators would be used for training troops from nations that have friendly ties with New Delhi.
The Astronavigation Dome, Multi-Station Handling Simulator (MSSHS), and Air Direction and Helicopter Control Simulator (ADHCS) were some of the many simulators unveiled by Singh in the port city of Kochi.
While the Ship Handling Simulators have been developed by New Delhi-based firm ARI Pvt Ltd and Astronavigation Dome has been built by Infovision Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Moreover, the Astronavigation Dome in Kochi is the first such structure for the Navy which would help it in navigating through the rough seas.
"The ADHCS - developed by Institute for Systems Studies and Analysis, a DRDO laboratory - would be able to provide real-time operational environment scenario to trainees," the release explained.
Among the other simulators that have become operational in Kerala are the Combat Management System and Maritime Domain Awareness Lab.
