'Fetus in Fetu' is a condition in which one twin is born inside the other. It happens in one in every 5,00,000 live births, a report suggests.
Famous as the "pregnant man of India," Sanju Bhagat from Maharashtra state's Nagpur city became the rarest of the rare after he was diagnosed with Fetus in Fetu and was unknowingly carrying his twin sibling inside him for 36 years.
Born in 1963, Bhagat appeared to be fit and healthy but as he grew up, his stomach severely bloated which would make him stand out among other children of his age.
It turned out to be a big concern as he entered his 20s as his huge bulging stomach would draw everyone's attention, He was reportedly mocked and teased by others.
But the struggle to make a living and run the house by working every day on a farm made him neglect his health condition.
In 1999, Bhagat's belly bulge pressed against his diaphragm, making it difficult to even breathe, and he was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai.
By the look of Bhagat's condition, Dr. Ajay Mehta, who was assigned his case, thought that he was suffering from a tumor.
However, during surgery, Dr. Mehta was shocked to find another human being inside him instead of a massive tumor.
Much to everyone's surprise, the doctors found limbs, some parts of genitalia, hair and jaws.
“We were horrified. We were confused and amazed… To my surprise and horror, I could shake hands with somebody inside. It was a bit shocking for me,” the doctor said during an interview with Indian media.

Initially, the doctors thought that Bhagat’s case was “vanishing twin syndrome” which means that his twin died during the pregnancy before being reabsorbed.
However, after detailed examination and study, it was found out that Bhagat's case was of a “fetus in fetu”.

After Bhagat was born, his unborn sibling lived inside him like a parasite.
After the surgery, Bhagat reportedly “refused to look at” the “lump of hair and flesh” after it was removed from his stomach.
He is now back to living his normal life.
