India’s capital city, Delhi is currently inundated in flood water, disrupting the daily lives of thousands of people. On Friday, three children drowned in flood water.
Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that flood water is now receding gradually from the Indian capital; however, the threat of flooding is not yet over.
In a tweet, Kejriwal warned people against going to flooded areas, as it could be fatal as the speed of the water is fast and can rise at any time.
Sharing a video of children playing in the flood water of the Shanti Van area, Kejriwal urged everyone to avoid such activities.
Kejriwal's appeal came after three children aged 10-13 years died on Friday while they were playing and swimming in flood water.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further showers for the national capital over the next 4-5 days and a yellow alert for Saturday. A 'yellow' alert indicates bad weather conditions, which might worsen, disrupting daily activities.
On Saturday at 7 am, Yamuna’s water level reached 207.62 meters, down from its peak of 208.66 meters at 8 pm on Thursday. However, the level remains over the 205.33-meter danger mark.
