One Earth - One Family - One Future is the theme of India's G-20 presidency, chosen to highlight the pressing issues of climate change, reform of global governance architecture, etc.
Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Tuesday said that the G-20 (a group of the world's top 20 economies), was facing challenges on multiple fronts.

"Multiple challenges confront the G-20 today. There is a North-South divide and an East-West disconnect, COVID's impact across sectors, the Ukraine conflict, a debt crisis, and trade disruptions. These factors have impeded efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and to undertake climate action," Jaishankar said while virtually addressing a G-20 event in India's southern state of Karnataka.

He added that India opted to bring an "unconventional approach" to its leadership of the G-20, allowing common citizens of the country to connect with it.
On being asked to assess New Delhi's G-20 Presidency, Jaishankar noted that it has made "some achievements, some work in progress, and some hope in progress".
Also, Jaishankar pointed out that G-20's scope and importance have grown in the world, considering the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has witnessed sharp divisions, especially among P-5 members.

"It is important for G-20 member states to realize that what unites us is greater than what separates us," he underlined.

The remarks of India's top diplomat come at a time when the G-20 is under the presidency of the South Asian nation with the summit of the heads of member states scheduled to take place in New Delhi in September.
Previously, an Indian expert highlighted that India was leading the G-20 at a time when the world was shaken by 3Cs.
Manish Chand, the Director of the Centre for Global Insights (CGII) described the 3Cs as "crisis, conflict and chaos".

"In such a fraught situation, India’s G-20 presidency has emerged as a beacon of hope, harmony and healing," he commented.
