Rooppur nuclear power plant is being built 160 km from the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, in accordance with a Russian project design.The construction started in 2021, and the NPP is expected to be put into operation in 2024.Located on the eastern bank of the Padma River, about 160 kilometres from Dhaka, the plant will consist of two power units using modern VVER-1200 nuclear reactors with a capacity of 1200 MW each.Interesting fact: in April this year, the news emerged that Bangladesh was going to pay for the construction of the plant in yuan.
