BRICS Enlargment: The Twenty-Three Who Want to Join

Subscribe
BRICS consists of the world's largest developing economies — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The economic bloc is emerging as a major power center in global geopolitics. BRICS now represents over 40 percent of the Earth's population and nearly 26 percent of the world's economy.
A number of countries have expressed their intention to join the grouping. In June, Iran added its name to the list for BRICS membership.
The next BRICS summit is scheduled to take place in South Africa later this month, where the subject of membership will be taken up.
Other nations which have expressed interest in being a part of the bloc are the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Egypt, and Algeria.
