India’s lunar mission lander Vikram reportedly captured a notable seismic event on 26 August, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The event, believed to be of naturally occurring, is under investigation to determine its source. The Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) payload on board the Vikram lander, which recorded the event, measures ground vibrations caused by natural quakes, its impact, and natural events. The graph shows the vibrations which took place during the rover's movement phase. The movement of the payloads on the lander was also recorded. The ILSA is also the first instance of a Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology-based instrument used on the moon. The ILSA comprises a cluster of six highly sensitive accelerometers, a device that measures a structure's vibration or acceleration.

Quake on Moon? Chandrayaan-3 Detects 'Natural' Lunar Seismic Event

Earlier this week, India’s lunar mission rover confirmed the presence of Sulphur, Oxygen, and other elements near the south pole of the Moon.
India’s
lunar mission lander Vikram reportedly captured a notable
seismic event on 26 August, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The event, believed to be of naturally occurring, is under investigation to determine its source.
The
Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) payload on board the Vikram lander, which recorded the event, measures
ground vibrations caused by natural quakes, its impact, and natural events.
The graph shows the vibrations which took place during the rover's movement phase.
The movement of the payloads on the lander was also recorded. The ILSA is also the first instance of a Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology-based instrument used on the moon.
The ILSA comprises a cluster of
six highly sensitive accelerometers, a device that measures a structure's vibration or acceleration.
