Later this year, five Indian states, namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram, will hold elections, setting the stage for the important 2024 Parliamentary elections.
Top Congress politicians including former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will be attending the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Saturday to finalise the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
The three-day crucial meeting of party’s top brass will be held in Hyderabad and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will chair the meeting.
Media reports quoting party sources indicate that the upcoming meeting will focus on devising a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the party's campaign not only in Telangana, but also in other states.
The discussion is likely to be about organising the second leg of the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” (Unite India Campaign).
The party will also be holding a mega rally in Hyderabad on Monday.

While talking to the reporters on Friday in Delhi ahead of the meeting, Kharge said: ''This is the first CWC meeting after he has taken charge as the party chief and an extended working committee meeting will also take place where discussions related to the party will be done.

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary for communications, publicity and media Jairam Ramesh described the meeting as "transformative" for Telangana politics and said six assurances would be announced for the people of the state.
Hoping for a clear mandate in the upcoming Telangana state assembly polls, Ramesh also targeted the state government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led federal government and the Telangana state government were two sides of the same coin.
