India is the fastest growing gaming market in Asia, both in terms of players and revenue, according to market research firm Niko Partners.Niko predicts that in 2027, there will be 641 million gamers in the country, an increase of 343 per cent compared to 2017, when there were around 144.9 million. By the end of this year (2023), there will be at least 444.4 million gamers in the country.Similarly, they have also predicted that industry revenues will grow to $1.58 billion by 2027. By the end of 2023, revenues from the Indian gaming market will grow by 21% compared to 2022, reaching $868 million.The gaming industry is growing rapidly in India, with people spending between 8.5 and 11 hours a week playing games. The surge in numbers during the last five years can be attributed to the aftermath of the coronavirus lockdown and the greater accessibility of affordable smartphones and cheap data packages.Currently, 96.8% of Indian gamers play on mobile devices and only 31% of Indian gamers spend money on games.Currently, Indian gaming companies account for merely 20% of the online games being played in India. However, the native sector is experiencing exponential growth, boasting over 900 Indian gaming start-ups.

India is the fastest growing gaming market in Asia, both in terms of players and revenue, according to market research firm Niko Partners.
Niko predicts that in 2027, there will be
641 million gamers in the country, an increase of 343 per cent compared to 2017, when there were around 144.9 million. By the end of this year (2023), there will be at least 444.4 million gamers in the country.
