In April this year, an Indian trade delegation visited Russia to explore the chance of increasing the exports of Indian farm and processed food exports from $750Mln to $3Bln in three years.
Taking a step ahead to bolster trade between the two countries, Russia and India have agreed to expand the bilateral supplies of livestock products, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
According to the report, an agreement was signed between an Indian delegation that was visiting Russia as part of the International Autumn Food Exhibition “WorldFood Moscow”, and an assistant of Artem Daushev, head of department of Rosselkhoznadzor.
The Indian delegation included representatives from ministries of trade and industry, fisheries, livestock and dairy and representatives of the Indian Embassy in Russia.

Representatives from both the countries noted that India and Russia share positive dynamics in the development of trade relations both in volume as well as in the list of products. For example, Russia was recently able to agree on certificates for the supply of food for productive animals, as well as wool and leather raw materials, to India.

Meanwhile, Daushev said that there is still a serious imbalance in mutual supplies of agricultural products as Russian fish processing enterprises still don’t have access to the Indian market.
However, both the countries have agreed to work on this issue with the participation of the relevant departments in both countries.
The Indian delegation also expressed an interest in accreditation of their new enterprises for the production of fish and seafood for their supply to Russia whereas Daushev assured them that this issue could be considered after inspections of the relevant manufacturers.
But the time of inspection has not been discussed.
The Indian delegation also asked to expand the list of local producers who will be able to import frozen buffalo meat to Russia.
The representative of Rosselkhoznadzor supported this proposal but in return asked to provide information about the epizootic situation in India regarding cattle diseases.

After the talks, representatives of both countries expressed their readiness to maintain and develop mutually beneficial bilateral trade relations and expand both the volume of supplies of their products to each other’s markets and the list of specific items.

In addition, the Indian delegation invited representatives of Rosselkhoznadzor to visit a similar food exhibition “WorldFood India 2023”, which is scheduled to take place in early November in New Delhi.
