Cricket was included in the Asian Games for the first time in 2010 in its shortest format – T20. It was not included in the 2018 Asian Games. However, during the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia it was decided to include the sport in the 2023 games.
Nepal's men's cricket team smashed several records in their match against Mongolia at the Asian Games 2023 cricket tournament in Hangzhou, China, as they scored the highest total in T20I cricket history, as well as the fastest 50 and fastest century by a player in the format's history on Wednesday.
Nepal scored 314 runs and lost only three wickets in 20 overs, exceeding Afghanistan’s 278 runs for the loss of three wickets in the same number of overs against Ireland in 2019.

In so doing, the team also smashed a total of 26 sixes in their innings which is the highest by a team in the format's history in a single inning. This is another record Afghanistan has had to concede as, until now, its 22 sixes against Ireland in 2019 occupied top place.

In addition to this, Nepalese all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee made the fastest 50 in the T20 cricket match and Kushal Malla scored the fastest century in the format.
Airee scored his half-century (50 runs) in just nine balls, passing the record of Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh who had scored half-century in just 12 balls against England in the first T20 World Cup held in 2007 in South Africa.
Airee’s strike rate is also the best in a T20 inning - he scored 52 runs in 10 balls.
Malla scored the fastest century in just 34 balls exceeding the record of Indian batter Rohit Sharma and South African batter David Miller who had scored the 100 in 35 balls each. Malla ended up by scoring 137 runs in 50 balls in which he hit eight fours and 12 sixes.
Mongolia, chasing a target of 315 runs, was dismissed for 41 runs by Nepal thus conceding a massive defeat by 273 runs.
Nepal's victory is also the biggest by any team in terms of runs in the history of T20I cricket
