India has launched an extensive outreach program in Africa as it vies to become a major defense equipment exporter to many countries of the continent.
The Indian Navy on Thursday said that it conducted an exercise with the Royal Moroccan Navy to enhance maritime cooperation between the two countries.
"Mission deployed in the Atlantic, INS Sumedha carried out Maritime Partnership Exercise with Royal Moroccan Naval ship LC Arrahmani towards enhancing interoperability & strengthening maritime cooperation," India's blue water force said in a statement.
The exercise is part of India's outreach to Africa amid multiple countries from the continent, including Nigeria, showing interest in purchasing military hardware from New Delhi.

African Nations Make a Beeline to Acquire Military Hardware From India

Earlier, this month reports emerged that was in discussions with Indian officials to acquire India's domestically produced Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) 'Dhruv' and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) 'Prachand', in a deal pegged at $1 billion.
Notably, all these military platforms are produced by India's defense behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Interestingly, Nigeria isn't the first country to evince interest in purchasing defense equipment from India.
Previously, Egypt, which is India's closest strategic partner in Africa, showed its willingness to procure the Tejas warplane and other weapons systems from New Delhi.
