Kapoor later told Sputnik that Putin and Modi were scheduled to meet in 2023, adding that the leaders were in constant contact.
Indian Ambassador to Russia Pavan Kapoor has told Sputnik that Russia and Moscow are engaged in high-level talks on the possibility of holding a summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin this year.
Western media reported late last year that Modi had allegedly refused to meet with Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, commenting on the publication, that "no meetings were planned until the end of the year [2022], and no one refused to do anything because there were no scheduled contacts." He also said that the schedule of meetings for 2023 would be agreed upon.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the publication, has said it had considered media reports that Modi's visit to Russia in 2022 had been canceled as a misunderstanding, as no such visit had been planned.
