Vladimir Putin held a press conference at the third Belt and Road Summit in Beijing, where he commented on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine.
The United States should take away its weapons from Ukraine if it believes that the conflict is lost by Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
"If Russia lost the war, why does [the US] supply ATACMS? Let [the US] take back ATACMS and all other weapons," Putin told reporters following his visit to China.
Mentioning the alleged use of Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) in Ukraine, Putin said that Russia would be able to repel such attacks.

Earlier in the day, a White House National Security Council spokesperson confirmed to Sputnik that the United States has already provided ATACMS to Ukraine to use against Russian forces.

He also said that "the United States is becoming more and more personally involved in this conflict. They are getting involved, that is obvious. And let no one say that they have nothing to do with it. We believe they do."

Ukraine Counteroffensive Brings Loses, Not Results

According to Putin, this is another mistake by the US, and it cannot fundamentally alter the situation on the battlefield. The same futility bears the activity of Ukrainian armed forces in Kherson direction, according to Putin.

“They [Ukrainian armed forces] launched the long-announced, expected next counteroffensive, now in the Kherson direction. There is no result yet. There are losses, but there is no result," Putin explained.

The Russian president acknowledged Ukraine's consideration of the negotiation process as a positive step, but said more action was needed. According to Putin, this development is a step in the right direction.

''If Ukraine wants to resume talks, no need for theatrical actions, necessary to cancel law that bans negotiations," Putin said.

Putin Calls Hospital Attack in Gaza Tragedy, Expects It to Be Signal to End Conflict

Commenting on the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Russian leader called the deadly strike on a hospital tragedy and a humanitarian catastrophe. He also stated that he expects that this could be a signal of the necessity to end the conflict.

"As for the hospital [attack], the tragedy that happened there is terrible. Hundreds of dead and injured is of course a catastrophe. [It happened in a place, a place of humanitarian nature. That's why I expect this to be a signal that the conflict should end as soon as possible. In any case, it is necessary to initiate some contacts and talks," Putin explained.

Putin added that he had an impression that main regional players in the Middle East did not want the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to deepen and escalate.
It is necessary to seek the unity of the Palestinian people, the Russian president said, adding that this should be a matter for the Palestinians themselves. Russia has always been in favour of the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, Putin reiterated.

Putin Discussed Bilateral Agenda, Middle East With Xi During 3-Hour Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he held three-hour talks with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which they discussed bilateral issues and the situation in the Middle East.

"We talked with the Chinese president for three hours ... This is the entire bilateral agenda, there is a lot of it, there are many issues — economics, finance, political interaction, joint work on international platforms. We also discussed the situation in the Middle East in some detail," Putin told reporters following the talks with Xi.

Putin said that he also informed Xi in detail about the situation around Ukraine.

"Regarding how external factors and conflicts influence the development of Russian-Chinese relations, all these external factors are common threats, and they strengthen Russian-Chinese interaction. As for the prospects, I look at it with optimism," Putin added.
