Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated after nine days of Navratri. The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil, as it is believed that Lord Rama killed the demon king Ravana on this day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other politicians and individuals from diverse sectors of society extended their warm wishes to the people of the country on the joyous occasion of Dussehra.
In a Hindi post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi, while congratulating his countrymen with Dussehra, said that "the holy festival brings the message of ending negative forces and adopting goodness in life".

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her greetings to the nation through a heartfelt tweet in Hindi. In her message, she highlighted how Dussehra serves as a powerful source of inspiration, urging everyone to embrace the virtues of truth and spirituality.

In addition to the Prime Minister and President, Amit Shah, the Home Minister, also conveyed his well wishes on the occasion. He emphasized that the triumph of righteousness, rooted in truth, is eternal.
"Symbolic of the victory of virtue over sin, 'Vijayadashami' is a festival that inspires and teaches us to always follow the path of wisdom and truth. May Lord Shri Ram bless everyone. Jai Shri Ram!" he said in a Hindi tweet.
Wishing the nation on Dussehra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that "falsehood and ego should be destroyed, truth and humanity should dwell in everyone's life".
Apart from politicians, wishes for the festival poured in from celebrities from all walks of life. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organised a 'path sanchalan' (route march) in the Maharashtra city of Nagpur to mark the occasion.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat attended the march, while the renowned Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended the march.
Bhagwat also performed 'Shashtra Pooja' (worship of arms and ammunition) before the march.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh marked the special occasion by participating in the “Shashtra Pooja” ceremony in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. He had informed through social media on Monday that he will be celebrating Dussehra with army personnel.
The festival is celebrated across the country with effigies of demon king Ravana being burned as a symbol to commemorate the victory of good over evil.
