Pakistan Takes Final Action Against Illegal Afghan Refugees

Earlier, the Pakistani government gave illegal Afghan refugees 1 November as deadline after which they would be arrested and deported.
The government authorities in Pakistan have commenced rounding up undocumented foreigners, largely the illegal Afghan refugees, in the country.
The action came after a deadline for the illegal people to vacate Pakistan ended.

According to Pakistani newspaper, the country's interior ministry has stated that a total of 140,322 people "voluntarily" left the country. The Afghan nationals made up the bulk of these people, including few of those who arrived in Pakistan decades ago.

In the light of its security concerns, financial crisis-hit Pakistan had set November 1 as the day to commence for "the expulsion of all undocumented immigrants".
The South Asian nation set the date ignoring calls from the UN and rights group to reconsider its decision about such people's exit.
Meanwhile, over 7,300 Afghan nationals deported on Wednesday included 51 prisoners from Peshawar’s central jail and 64 released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi city.
