India has said that it will raise the issue of security of both inbound and outbound Air India flights in Canada with the concerned authorities amid threats by a designated terrorist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.“We shall take up the threat against Air India flights originating from and terminating in Canada, with the Canadian authorities concerned,” India’s High Commissioner to Ottawa Sanjay Kumar Verma said while responding to a question from an Indian newspaper.Verma further stated that the video released by Pannun was in clear violation of Chicago Convention. The SFJ founder released a video on Saturday (4 November) in which he had warned Sikhs to not to travel by Air India after 19 November as their life could be in danger.Referring to the ongoing World Cup 2023 as “World Terror Cup”, Pannun said that the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport would remain closed on 19 November, the same day on which the final of the “World Terror Cup” would be played, and its name to be changed when India's Punjab state would be liberated. The latest threat by the SFJ founder is a reminiscent of the 1985 bomb attack on Air India flight 182 – the Kanishka – by Khalistani terrorists. At least 329 people had lost their lives while two baggage handlers in Tokyo’s Narita airport died from a blast due to another bomb explosion on another airplane. It is not the first threat issued by Pannun. In September, he had asked Hindu-Canadians to leave Canada amid a diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India to Urge Canada to Tighten Security On Air India Flights After Pannun’s Threat
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has issued a video warning, saying that there will be a global blockade from 19 November and Air India won’t be allowed to operate.
India has said that it will raise the issue of security of both inbound and outbound Air India flights in Canada with the concerned authorities amid threats by a designated terrorist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
“We shall take up the threat against Air India flights originating from and terminating in Canada, with the Canadian authorities concerned,”
India’s High Commissioner to Ottawa Sanjay Kumar Verma said while responding to a question from an Indian newspaper.
Verma further stated that the video released by Pannun was in clear violation of Chicago Convention.
“The Chicago Convention lays out a framework for international civil aviation operations and the video is in clear violation of it. Canada and India, among many other nations, are parties to the convention. The bilateral civil aviation agreement between India and Canada has provisions to tackle such threats,” the Indian High Commissioner to Ottawa said.
The
SFJ founder released a video on Saturday (4 November) in which he had warned Sikhs to not to travel by Air India after 19 November as their life could be in danger.
Referring to the ongoing World Cup 2023 as “World Terror Cup”, Pannun said that the
Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport would remain closed on 19 November, the same day on which the final of the “World Terror Cup” would be played, and its name to be changed when India's
Punjab state would be liberated.
The latest threat by the SFJ founder is a reminiscent of the 1985 bomb attack on Air India flight 182 – the Kanishka – by
Khalistani terrorists.
