Out of 90 state assembly seats in Chhattisgarh, voting on 20 seats concluded at 5 p.m. (IST) on Tuesday. Polling for the remaining seats will be held on 17 November.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the work done by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for tribal welfare while addressing a public rally in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

“I am born to serve and you have given me work to serve you,” Modi said while addressing a poll rally in Bishrampur town in Surajpur district of the state.

While attacking Congress (ruling party in the state), the Prime Minister said that the party has failed to control the Maoist activities in the state.

“Whenever Congress comes to power, the courage of terrorists and Maoists increases in the country. The Congress government has failed to control Naxal violence. In recent times, many BJP workers have been killed here,” he said.

Stating that tribal welfare has been the top priority of BJP, Modi referring to President Droupadi Murmu said: “Did anyone think that a woman coming from 'adivasi' (tribal) family could become India's President.”
“Many girls from tribal families have gone missing. Due to Congress' policy of appeasement, it has become tough to celebrate festivals in the Surguja region of Chhattisgarh,” he stated.
The elections in Chhattisgarh are direct contest between Congress and BJP. Congress has highlighted the work done by State Chief Bhupesh Baghel in the last five years while BJP has been countering it with the charges of corruption on the state government as well as Baghel.
The results of the elections will be declared on 3 December.
