On October 7, Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise rocket attack against Israel. In its retaliatory strikes, Israel caused casualties among Gaza Strip citizens.
Médecins Sans Frontières organization (also known as 'The Doctors Without Borders' in English), has been unable to contact their staff at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza that was heavily attacked by the IDF.

“We are currently unable to contact any of our staff inside Al-Shifa, and we are extremely concerned about the safety of patients and the medical staff. Patients are still in the hospital, some in critical condition and unable to move, there are caretakers still inside the facility," the organization said.

Al-Shifa hospital is the main operational health facility in Gaza city providing emergency and surgical care, with hundreds of patients and civilians inside.

Speech by Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah on the occasion of “Martyr’s Day” in memory of the fallen members of the organization:
The (Israeli) aggression taking place in Gaza is a dangerous, large-scale and exceptional event, and these crimes are the cruel revenge of Israel;
The Palestinian resistance heroically resists the occupation, which with its crimes wants to force people to surrender, to forget about their land, prisoners, holy places and Palestine;
The enemy is openly attacking hospitals in the Gaza Strip in front of the whole world, his cruelty is not decreasing, but rather only increasing every day;
The crimes of occupation over the past decades and even the July aggression (2006) did not force the Lebanese to give up resistance;
“It is the Israelis who should despair that they will not be able to achieve their goals, not our peoples, who have proven that their choice is the choice of victory, liberation and dignity”;
