The leading agricultural drone manufacturer launched India's first reforestation drone 'Seedcopter 2.0' on Friday.
Marut Drones' Seedcopter 2.0 is going to speed up the reforestation drive across India as the company extends its ties with other firms involved in corporate social responsibility initiatives.
To address the global issue of deforestation, Marut Drones launched Seedcopter drone in 2021 and started a mission 'Hara Bahara campaign' to plant one billion trees by 2030 and restore 900 forests across the country.
According to the World Bank, around 1.3 million square kilometers of forest worldwide have been lost between 1990 and 2016. This alarming rate of deforestation results in the disappearance of 15 billion trees every year.
Within a year of its launch, Seedcopter achieved a big success as more than one crore trees were reportedly planted across nine states like Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu and Assam states.
The mission was also backed by its key ambassadors, Indian actor and environmental advocate Rana Daggubati, Padmashree Jadav Payeng from Assam, popularly known as the Forest Man of India, and Padmashree Daripalli Ramaiah from Telangana.
With the launch of Seedcopter 2.0 drone, the mission takes the campaign to another big level to achieve a new milestone.

How Does Seedcopter 2.0 Work?

The Seedcopter 2.0 drones carry seed balls and scatter them in challenging and remote terrains, valleys, and foothills.
This reduces the time and labor required for afforestation and provides a practical and cost-effective solution.
Seedcopters conduct a complete aerial survey and mapping of target areas, providing valuable insights into the topography, soil conditions, and vegetation.
This allows individuals to determine the ideal locations for seed placement, ensuring a uniform distribution throughout the area. As a result, it increases the germination rate and growth of the tree.
Seedcopters also help in tracking the progress of the seeds after sowing them and modifying the strategy as per future projects.
