The space body was named as 'lost asteroid' because astronomers haven’t seen it since 2007, and its trail is unpredictable. NASA has predicted that the asteroid might hit Earth in October 2024. The asteroid is 0.21 miles in size and 54 million tonnes in mass, if it hits the earth, it will cause massive regional damage but not a global catastrophe. According to the space agency, the chance of an asteroid hitting the earth is 1 in 10 million.Over 32,000 known near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) and more than 120 known short-period near-Earth comets (NECs) may or may not hit our planet. Each of these space bodies can cause some form of destruction to the earth if they manage to hit the ground.
