On 7 October, Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel, who later answered with rocket strikes and ordered a complete blockade of Gaza, cutting off supplies of water, food, and fuel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday that the Israeli Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) organized the entry of 200 trucks carrying humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

"Today (Sunday), COGAT coordinated the entry of 200 trucks into the Gaza Strip, 42 of which were loaded with shelter equipment. This was with the approval of the government of Israel, in accordance with agreement with the United States, and in coordination with Egypt and the United Nations," the IDF said on Telegram.

In total, 226 trucks with shelter equipment entered Gaza, delivering "some 3,600 tonnes of tents, blankets and mattresses," the IDF said, adding that since 7 October, over 2,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid had entered the enclave.
On the same day, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said that it had delivered 100 truckloads of aid to the Gaza Strip on Sunday.
