The Indian military is currently undertaking various efforts to modernise its capabilities by integrating cutting-edge technology, recognising that contemporary warfare heavily relies on technological advancements.
Following the requirements of future warfare, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is making progress in the development of military-grade software, comprised of equipment that harnesses the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze, make decisions, and execute operations, according to reliable sources.

"Establishment of Military College of Communication Engineering as a test bed for 5G and 6G technology is a symbol of India's commitment to fulfil future war-related needs," the army officials said.

"Experiments are being conducted for 5G and 6G military-grade software which is ensuring state-of-the-art technology for the Indian Army," they said.
The sources underlined that the software is already capable of reading Enemy's Electronic Order of Battle (ORBAT) and pattern recognition. These tools are designed to help the commanders speed up analysis of combat situation and decision-making process.

"Ensuring due importance to the issue of cyber security, the Indian Army is merging it with the Indian Army Security Operations Centre 2.0, which is a significant step in the right direction, and the creation of forensic tools and advanced cyber security has strengthened the measure," the army officials stressed, adding that the Military College of Communication Engineering has become a centre of research and development.

Notable innovations include the Situational Awareness Module (SAMA) for the Army and advanced pattern recognition software for satellite imagery analysis, they said.
Initiatives like SRIJAN and Raksha Bhoomi reflect the Army's dedication towards digital innovation and enhancing operational efficiency.
Programs like Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana have been incorporated to meet the logistics infrastructure requirements of the Army, thereby ensuring rapid mobilization and efficient logistics supply through the national infrastructure, the military said, adding that the army's commitment to innovation is underlined by the development of more than 22 projects seeking intellectual property rights.
