Medics in India's Bengaluru city have made a big breakthrough by successfully extracting a bullet from a 29-year-old Yemeni man's head after nearly twenty years.Saleh, who is a father of two, reportedly felt immense relief after traveling to India and successfully undergoing surgery to remove the three-centimeter-long bullet.The man had reportedly been living with the bullet lodged in his head since he was 10, the result of being shot during a crossfire between conflicting groups in Yemen. It had penetrated his left ear and became lodged in the bone.Even though the doctors at a nearby hospital in Yemen cleaned his wound, they were unable to remove the embedded bullet. As a result, he had suffered from chronic ear infections, deafness, and recurring headaches.Last week, Aster Hospital in Karnataka state's Bengaluru city rose to the challenge and successfully treated the patient, giving him a new lease of life.Operating on the patient was a daunting task for the doctors as they had to extract the metal object lodged perilously close to vital vascular structures.The patient was at a significant risk of major bleeding, underscoring the complexity of the operation.The doctors performed the surgery utilizing X-ray technology to precisely locate and remove the bullet from the surrounding tissues.The procedure ended smoothly without any complications or significant bleeding, effectively reducing the risks involved.
