In a tribute to the nation's valiant soldiers, India marked Vijay Diwas with a series of commemorative events across the country.Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt tribute on Vijay Diwas to the brave heroes of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, acknowledging their selflessness and courage that ultimately led to India's victory.On December 16, 1971, India achieved a decisive victory over Pakistan after a 13-day conflict, resulting in the creation of Bangladesh from the former East Pakistan.The Battle of 1971 resulted in the loss of 3,900 Indian soldiers' lives and left 9,851 others injured.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Indian Air Force Vice Chief Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar paid tribute by laying wreath at the National War Memorial in Delhi.Several leaders and individuals posted several photos and videos as they paid tribute to soldiers on Vijay Diwas on social media.Highlighting the significance of the day, President Droupadi Murmu attended a special 'At Home' reception at the Army House on the eve of Vijay Diwas.
