A Japan Airlines Airbus A350, carrying 379 passengers and crew members, was engulfed in flames after it collided with a Japanese Coast Guard plane during landing at Tokyo International Airport.
Out of six people on board the Coast Guard plane that collided with a Japan Airlines Airbus (JAL) A350 that was engulfed in flames, five were killed.
According to the Japan Coast Guard, six individuals were on board the Coast Guard aircraft. One person managed to escape.
All 379 passengers and crew members on board the JAL Airbus A350 were successfully evacuated despite the terrifying flames that engulfed the aircraft following the collision at Tokyo International Airport, also known as Haneda Airport.
A Japanese news agency captured a gripping sight of the passenger plane engulfed in flames as it started landing on the runway at high speed and collided with Coast Guard aircraft.
Videos circulating on the Internet depict flames shooting out from the plane's windows as multiple fire trucks rush to the scene, spraying foam and water to control the blaze.
Japan's prime minister has called for an emergency meeting to coordinate between agencies to control the situation.
