Modi is expected to talk about a growing economy, improved infrastructure and welfare schemes in the upcoming election campaign as he seeks a third term.
India's burgeoning economy, along with other good works undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi government in the last 10 years, will certainly help him score more political points that could earn him another term as Prime Minister, experts believe.
Speaking to Sputnik India, Baisakhi Dalapati, who works as an assistant professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Bhopal, said that the improvement in infrastructure, especially the road network across the country, and the economy are two major positives that people can see for themselves.

"The government's welfare schemes - be it financial assistance to farmers, the elderly or simply providing free rations to a large number of people - would help him score points over the opposition political parties, and for me, becoming prime minister again is a huge possibility," she commented.

On whether the Indian economy would soon become the third largest in the world as announced by Modi, Assistant Professor Dalapati said the way the Indian economy is growing in the challenging situations, it would soon reach the desired third place.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday announced that the Indian economy would become the third largest in the world by 2027-28 and cross the $5 trillion mark, a departure from the Modi government's earlier target of 2024-25.

"It is believed that we will certainly be able to achieve the third largest economy target that the honourable Prime Minister has spoken about with a good sense of confidence," Sitharaman was quoted as saying by media reports at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.

India Will Reach its Goal of Becoming the Third Largest Economy

India's rising economy has given a positive message to the people of the country and even if there are problems faced by the common man in his daily life, the pace of economic growth would definitely help Modi politically in the upcoming elections," she said.
Besides the emerging economy, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a scheme introduced by the Modi government during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 to provide 5 kg of food grains free of cost to individuals, has earned him a place in people's hearts, said Prashant Rao, a senior school teacher.

"I'm not sure if economic growth alone would do it, but welfare schemes like PMGKAY in addition to the regular quota of food grains given under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) really helped people during the tough time of Covid-19 and the fact that it is still continuing makes me believe that these two factors would help Modi Ji score above others," he added.

Asked about Modi's claim that India would soon be the third largest economy, he said since the government had revised its target, it would hopefully reach the spot by the new deadline.
"I don't see any reason why the Indian economy should not reach the third position in the world by 2027-28 as announced by the minister concerned," he said, adding that anti-incumbency was a major factor that could help opposition parties against Modi.
