"India pursues an independent foreign policy, which is not easy in the modern world. But India, with a population of one and a half billion, has the right to this," Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with students in Kaliningrad on Thursday.
"Playing games" with India related to influence on its politics from outside has no future — the country pursues a nationally-oriented leadership, the Russian leader said.

"India is a great culture," the Russian leader continued. "It is very interesting, diverse and colourful. So there's a lot of things that connect us."
