Delhi has been making rapid strides in space exploration, with the South Asian country becoming the first to make a soft landing on the Moon's South Pole last year.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief Sreedhara Somanath has confirmed that the first person from India is expected to set foot on the Moon in the last quarter of 2025.
Somanath's comments come as the ISRO gears up for the launch of India's maiden space flight featuring humans in the next 18 to 24 months.
If successful, the program codenamed Gaganyaan will make India only the second nation after the United States to land humans on the Moon.
Besides setting an ambitious target for its Gaganyaan mission, the ISRO chairman underlined that India is aiming to establish a space station by 2035.
At present, only the US, Russia, and China operate space stations.
