India's Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday signed a $211 million deal with the public-sector military equipment provider Advanced Weapon Equipment India Ltd. (AWEIL) for the procurement of over 450 Stabilised Remote Control Guns (SRCG) for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.

India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday signed a $211 million deal with the public-sector military equipment provider Advanced Weapon Equipment India Ltd. (AWEIL) for the procurement of over 450 Stabilised Remote Control Guns (SRCG) for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.According to the MoD, the contract for the 463 SRCG is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in Defence".It added that over 125 Defense Public Sector Units (DPSUs) and vendors would be involved in the construction of these SRCGs which is estimated to take approximately 5 years.
