A day after key opposition politician Lalu Prasad Yadav took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over “parivarvaad” (nepotism), BJP on Monday launched a mega online campaign – Modi ka Parivar (Family of Modi).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lashed out at opposition over “parivarvaad” (dynastic politics or nepotism) as he said that the entire country is his family and all the countrymen are party of Modi’s family.
“The entire country is my family…everyone in the country is saying they are part of Modi’s family. Even those who do not have anyone, Modi is there with them, and Modi is theirs,” the Prime Minister said in Telangana.

The response from Modi came a day after key opposition politician and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav during a poll rally in Patna (capital city of Bihar) took a jibe at Modi for his remarks on nepotism.
“Narendra Modi is nowadays attacking dynastic politics. I want to ask, why doesn't he has any children. You don't have family,” Yadav had said at the rally. The former Bihar state chief also said that Modi is not Hindu as every Hindu shaves head after death of his mother but Modi did not.
Apart from Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members and several federal ministers on Monday added “Modi ka Parivar” (Modi’s family) to their X (formerly Twitter) bio.
The campaign hold extreme significance ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls as it is seems reminiscent of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when Congress parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Modi by saying “Chowkidar Chor Hai” (Watchman is himself the thief).
Responding to this, BJP members had updated their social media bio with “Main Bhi Chowkidar” (I am a Watchman too) and it gave a huge boost to party’s poll prospects as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) went on to win 353 seats out of 543 while Congress-led United Progressive Alliance managed to get 91 seats.

The BJP itself won 303 seats while the Congress was disseminated to 52 seats only. In 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the saffron party is looking to win 370 seats alone while expecting its alliance to win more than 400 seats.
