Amid a surge in terrorism gripping the country, Pakistani Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has designated Afghanistan as the primary "source of terrorism" in the region and called to close its 2,600-kilometer border with neighbour, known as the Durand Line.
This comes amid hightened strains in Pak-Afghan relations, as both Islamic neighboring countries accuse each other of sponsoring terrorism.
According to Asif, Pakistan should completely close its 2.6 km border with Afghanistan to terrorists to prevent them from entering the country, but at the same time ensure normal crossing for citizens and vehicles in accordance with existing laws, rules, and traditions.
On one hand, Pakistan claims the Afghan Taliban government back terrorists and militants who target Pakistan, and on the other hand, the Afghan Taliban level comparable charges against Pakistan.
Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worst this week. The number of terrorist attacks on Pakistani soil has grown since an airstrike on militant safe havens in Afghanistan, which has prompted an upsurge in border skirmishes and attacks in Pakistan.

In this matter, the defense minister of Pakistan, Khawaja Asif, has recently demanded immediate action in response to terrorist strikes on Pakistani soil and has urged the relevant law enforcement agency to increase border controls with Afghanistan, and if things do not get normal between us, we will close the border, as per Geo News.

Hence, the British-drawn Durand Line serves as the primary catalyst for hostilities between two Muslim bordering nations. From the beginning, Afghanistan has had worries regarding this boundary.
