The Indian Air Force has commenced a 10-day war exercise called 'Gagan Shakti', aiming to demonstrate its formidable might and capability to execute high-intensity operations in a realistic environment, involving all air force bases and assets across the country.Fighter planes and helicopters from various parts of the country will "engage pseudo targets" at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer city during the large-scale exercise, which takes place every five years.According to an official statement, the Indian Army has successfully coordinated the extensive movement of around 10,000 IAF personnel and ammunition across India. This operation was conducted to test and confirm the effectiveness of the IAF's Operational Rail Mobilisation Plan (ORMP).“Gagan Shakti” was last held in 2018, during which the IAF executed over 11,000 sorties in a two-phase air maneuver. The IAF conducted comprehensive exercises covering a wide range of operations, including deep strikes, air superiority, maritime warfare, and air defense.
