Zelensky's 'Peace Formula' for Ukraine Has No Takers in India: Russian Ambassador
India has repeatedly rebuffed Kiev's overtures to gain New Delhi's support in the Ukraine conflict. However, the South Asian nation has continuously noted that Ukraine and Russia should resolve their differences through diplomatic dialogue.
Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov has derided Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's so-called 'peace formula' for the Ukrainian conflict, stressing that it has no takers in India.
"I am sure that New Delhi is fully aware that this 'formula' is impassable and has nothing to do with peace," Alipov told Russian magazine International Affairs. "The Indians emphasize that any attempts to politically resolve the conflict in Ukraine without the participation of Russia and taking into account its interests are futile."
Alipov said New Delhi realized that any plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was "impossible" to
attain without Russian participation.
He emphasized that Zelensky's 'peace formula' "has nothing to do with peace."
The Russian diplomat also pointed out that Ukraine and its Western partners were trying to lure countries from the Global South in their bid to bring them
into their orbit. But New Delhi has not fallen into this trap, as it was aware of the reasons the conflict, and has remained consistent in its position of calling for a resolution through diplomatic means.
India "adheres to a fundamentally equidistant position, which allows it to continue a constructive dialogue with both Russia and the West," Alipov concluded.
