Russians and Indians came together to march through the streets of Trivandrum outside the Russian House holding a 79-meter-long St. George Ribbon to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Victory Day.Around 79 people, including Russian compatriots, Russian specialists working at the Koodankulam NPP, members of the Russian House and the Indo-Russian Friendship Society, Indo-Russian Youth Club, and Women's Forum, took part in the Victory Day campaign to pay solemn tribute to the Soviet soldiers who lost their lives during the Great Patriotic War.Ratheesh C. Nair, Honourary Consul of Russia and Director of the Russian House in Trivandrum, said that the Victory Day campaign, which has been organised for the last three years, has fostered a great understanding among locals about the significance of the Soviet Union’s Great Victory 79 years ago.The “Immortal Regiment” rally also took place, with Russian compatriots participating in the event holding the photographs of their relatives who fought against Nazi Germany in World War II.The seminar highlighted the lasting impact of the Soviet Union's Victory on the current global landscape, emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the soldiers during World War II. Participants engaged in discussions on how these historical events continue to shape international relations and promote peace and unity among nations.
