Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash on May 19 as he was returning from a trip to the Iran-Azerbaijan border to inaugurate a dam. After Raisi's demise, Tehran announced that it would hold an early presidential election on June 28.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's death has united the nation and strengthened its foreign relations.
The announcement of Iran's 14th presidential election followed a meeting between the heads of the judicial, executive, and legislative authorities of the country, the state-run news agency IRNA said on Wednesday.
Raisi's passing united the Iranian nation in mourning. His large funeral procession was attended by various heads of state and diplomats from around the world.

Raisi's demise has not only united the Iranian people internally but has also strengthened Iran's relationships with the global community.

As a result, to symbolize their resilience and strength, Iran is preparing for an early presidential election in June.
Conspiracy theories have abounded since the helicopter crash, comparing the circumstances of Raisi's death to those of General Zia ul Haq, the former President and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.

Grand memorial ceremonies will be held at the Grand Mosallah in Tehran on Wednesday, with other ceremonies to be announced later. On Thursday morning, funeral prayers will commence in Birjand, South Khorasan province, where Raisi previously served as Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's representative.
