Delhi BJP Chief Says PM Modi’s Third Term is Step Towards Viksit Bharat
21:05 05.06.2024 (Updated: 21:55 05.06.2024) The ruling party's Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva and all the seven newly-elected parliamentarians from the city vowed to work towards developing the national capital on Wednesday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a clean sweep in Delhi for the third consecutive time in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
All seven candidates fielded by the party won with comfortable margins in their respective constituencies.
The
BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a clear mandate, winning 292 seats out of 543 , 240 of which are BJP seats only. On the other side, the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc showed an impressive performance as it won 232 seats, the Congress itself gained 99 seats.
Still, the opposition claims that the people of the country are not happy with Modi. The BJP's capital unit Chief Virendra Sachdeva told Sputnik India that the opposition's happiness remains uncomprehended, as all of it combined still fell short of the number of seats that the BJP won alone.
Meanwhile, he expressed confidence on the party's future roadmap.
"The NDA has a clear mandate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath for the third consecutive time. In the third term of PM Modi, India will take a step closer towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) and the people of the country love PM Modi and will continue to bless him," he stressed, countering the narrative of the opposition.
Sachdeva then noted that people, especially from Delhi, voted for the party because of the development in the city they witnessed under the leadership of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"A lot of development work has been taken up in Delhi in the last 10 years like construction of Bharat Mandapam, Kartavya Path, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya (Prime Ministers’ Museum), Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, and many other things. This is the reason we scored a hat-trick in the national capital," he stated.
Elimination of corruption
The
elected parliamentarians, including Sachdeva, thanked the people of Delhi for voting for the party during a press conference on Wednesday. They also vowed to work hard for the upcoming
Delhi assembly elections scheduled to be held before February 2025.
The politician further highlighted that the people of Delhi were fed up with corruption reportedly carried out by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the city.
"The assembly elections in Delhi would be in the next six months. So, we will try that the Delhites should get rid of the corrupt government of the AAP and get a double engine government of BJP for the overall development of the city," Sachdeva stated.
He added that he will continue to fight for the people of Delhi who are facing many issues under the AAP government, including water shortage and lack of ration cards.
