Modi Sworn In as India's Prime Minister for Third Term

Apart from BJP leader Narendra Modi, several ministers, including those with full cabinet rank and junior ministers, also took their oath on Sunday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been sworn in for a third term following the Lok Sabha parliamentary elections.
Modi, leader of the victorious National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took the oath of office and became the Prime Minister of India for the third time.
The oath ceremony was broadcast live by Indian television channels on Sunday.

"I, Narendra Damodardas Modi, do swear in the name of God affirm that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established. I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India," Modi read out load from the text.

"I will faithfully and conscientiously discharge my duties as Prime Minister for the Union. I will do right to all manner of people in accordance with the Constitution and the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will," he continued.
Modi was sworn in by Indian President Draupadi Murmu. He is the second politician in India to serve as head of government for a third consecutive term. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of independent India to do so.
