India successfully launched its first reusable hybrid rocket, 'RHUMI-1,' developed by the Tamil Nadu-based start-up Space Zone India in collaboration with Martin Group, from Thiruvidandhai in Chennai. The rocket, which carried 3 Cube Satellites and 50 PICO Satellites, was launched on a suborbital trajectory using a mobile launcher.These satellites are designed to gather data for research on global warming and climate change.The mission, named RHUMI, is led by Anand Megalingam, the founder of Space Zone, under the mentorship of Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, the former Director of the ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC). The RHUMI-1 rocket combines the strengths of both liquid and solid fuel propellant systems, enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs.

India Launches Its First Reusable Hybrid Rocket
With the recent celebration of India's first National Space Day, dedicated to the anniversary of Chandrayaan-3's historic Moon landing, Indian scientists continue to develop cutting edge tech for more space missions.
India successfully launched its first reusable hybrid rocket, 'RHUMI-1,' developed by the Tamil Nadu-based start-up Space Zone India in collaboration with Martin Group, from Thiruvidandhai in Chennai.
The rocket, which carried 3 Cube Satellites and 50 PICO Satellites, was launched on a suborbital trajectory using a mobile launcher.
These satellites are designed to gather data for research on global warming and climate change.
The RHUMI-1 rocket is powered by a hybrid motor that uses a generic fuel, and it features an electrically triggered parachute deployer. Notably, RHUMI-1 is entirely pyrotechnic-free, containing 0% TNT.
The mission, named RHUMI, is led by Anand Megalingam, the founder of Space Zone, under the mentorship of Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, the former Director of the ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC).
