Rosatom Reaping Orders for Floating Nuclear Power Plants After BRICS Summit
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom received new orders for floating nuclear power plants after the BRICS' October summit in Kazan, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev said on Wednesday.
"This installation [RITM-200 pressurised water reactor] can be used in floating nuclear power plants, two of which are already under construction. Agreements on new orders were reached during the BRICS summit," he said.
Speaking at the launch of the Chukotka nuclear icebreaker, Likhachev highlighted the importance of launching serial production of floating nuclear power plants for Russia's shipbuilding industry and that of partner nations.
