India becomes the fifth country to successfully test a hypersonic missile, alongside Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully test-fired a long-range hypersonic missile from the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha, said Defence Minister Rajnakh Singh on Sunday.

"India has achieved a major milestone by successfully conducting a flight trial of a long range hypersonic missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha," Singh said on X.

He called the trial a historic moment, adding that the achievement has put India "in the group of select nations, having capabilities of such critical and advanced military technologies."
