US President Joe Biden's government and the country's deep state have been accused of running a vendetta campaign against Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani, with American short-seller Hindenburg Research, previously accusing his group of committing financial fraud.
On Thursday, India woke up to the news that Gautam Adani, the billionaire Indian businessman and founder of the Adani Group, a conglomerate dealing in multiple sectors, had been indicted in the US on the charges of bribery and fraud.
According to American prosecutors, Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and employees linked to the Adani Group, allegedly "bribed Indian officials to the tune of $265 million" to secure renewable energy contracts.
However, since his indictment, social media have been abuzz with the role of the Joe Biden administration in the whole saga. Others suggested that the US Deep State was at it again, while a section of the netizens highlighted that Adani's public backing of Trump was a factor behind the witch-hunt against him and his business empire.
"Political vendetta against Adani for supporting Trump! Earlier Ukraine missile crisis and now this, Democrats doing everything to make Trump's second term chaotic," a geopolitical enthusiast wrote on X.
"Adani endorsed Trump and they taking him down now. Deep state is real," another reckoned.
"So looks like Kamala and gang are going all out against Adani before they get out in January. Surprising again, IMO, Adani was maybe only Indian businessman to congratulate Trump on his win on same day," a third pointed out.
"Adani runs fowl with the Democrat establishment, so they just wanna ruin the pudding for Trump when he enters office," a fourth asserted.
