Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has issued new threats to Russian diplomats, including offering $25,000 for information about the whereabouts of the Russian ambassador to Canada.
Proscribed Khalistani militant Gurpatwant Singh Pannun's recent intimidating remarks, warning Russian diplomats and entities of consequences are connected with the Eurasian state's continuous support to India over the issue of Khalistani separatism, experts have said.
According to Binay Kumar Singh, Senior Research Fellow (Strategic) Studies at the New Delhi-based think tank Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, Pannun's threats against Russian diplomats appear to be linked to Russia's consistent support for India on issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty, including its firm stance against Khalistani separatism.

"Russia has historically opposed separatist movements worldwide due to its own challenges with such issues and has often voiced support for India's unity. By targeting Russia, Pannun might be attempting to intimidate a key international ally of India, trying to deter its backing of India's stance on Khalistan. However, such threats are unlikely to influence Russia's policy, given its longstanding strategic relationship with India," Singh told Sputnik India.

Pannun's criticism of Russian entities, including Sputnik India, highlights his frustration with the growing international exposure of his agenda.

Pannun is the founder and spokesperson of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an American-headquartered radical organisation that calls for the establishment of Khalistan, carved out from India's northern state of Punjab. While SFJ is banned in India, Pannun has been declared a terrorist in the South Asian country.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Pannun has spewed venom against India or its allies. Months ago, he warned of a "Hamas-like" attack in India before asking Hindus living in the US and Canada to leave the two North American countries.
Ambassador (Retd) KP Fabian, a former Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Canada, said that action should be initiated against Pannun for threatening Russian diplomats.

"As Russia has fully supported India's stand on Khalistani radicalism in Canada, Pannun is angry about it and that's why he's making such statements," Fabian said in a conversation with Sputnik India.

The former Indian envoy to Canada also underscored that media outlets are free to expose fake narratives and propaganda being spread by individuals like Pannun.
"There should be full respect for the freedom to express themselves, but this is something one cannot expect from Pannun," he reckoned.
Colonel (Retd) Jaibans Singh, the chief spokesperson of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's federally ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab, asserts that there are no takers for the Khalistan agenda in India and abroad.
"While some elements in the US, UK, and Canada give support, there is a miniscule minority of the Sikh Diaspora, but with a lot of nuisance value! In India, especially in Punjab, nobody pays any attention to Khalistan," the BJP politician said in an interview with Sputnik India.
Pannun is scared because of his incapability to deliver anything to his handlers despite taking millions of dollars from them. He is losing his mental balance, getting delusional and hitting out left right and center in a make-believe power scenario, the Indian Army veteran emphasised.
It should be noted that Pannun is a dual US-Canadian national.
