MOSCOW, December 25 (Sputnik) – A total of 28 people have survived the Azerbaijani airlines plane crash in Kazakhstan's Aktau, the Kazakh Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
"According to preliminary operational data, 28 people were taken to medical institutions due to varying degrees of severity. They receive all the necessary medical care in the hospitals of the region. Some 23 ambulance crews have been mobilized to the scene. An air ambulance is flying from Astana to Aktau today, with a team of specialists consisting of surgeons and traumatologists," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry said that an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed at the Aktau airport in western Kazakhstan. The preliminary cause of the plane crash in Kazakhstan's Aktau was a collision with a flock of birds, according to Azerbaijan Airlines.
The Kazakh Ministry of Transport said that there were 62 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane. A total of 25 people survived the plane crash in Aktau, 22 of whom were taken to hospital, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations.
