India has maintained a consistent position on resolving the Ukraine conflict all along, which is in favour of resolving the issue through dialogue and diplomacy, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told a weekly briefing in New Delhi on Friday.Jaiswal was responding to a question about India's view on recent statements by new US President Donald Trump, who has publicly stated on at least two occasions this week that his administration is working to end the conflict.In a Wednesday post on Truth Social platform, Trump called for a settlement in Ukraine and cutting a "deal". The US President remarked that he enjoyed a "very good relationship" with Putin and loved the Russian people.Addressing the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday through video-conferencing, Trump said his administration was working to end the Ukraine conflict and sought China's support on the issue.In his Davos speech, Trump also called for "denuclearisation" talks with Russia and China.In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that Volodymyr Zelensky wanted to make a deal because he's had enough.

Indian MEA Reacts to Trump’s Overture to Russia on Ukraine
18:43 24.01.2025 (Updated: 21:43 24.01.2025) Following Trump’s statement at the World Economic Forum about pushing to end the Ukraine conflict, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said President Putin is open to a phone call, but no "signals" have come from the US.
India has maintained a consistent position on resolving the Ukraine conflict all along, which is in favour of resolving the issue through dialogue and diplomacy, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told a weekly briefing in New Delhi on Friday.
"Our Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] has said that this is not the era of war. He also said that there is no solution that lies on the battlefield. So, that is our approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and we continue to stand by it. For the resolution to happen, both sides will have to come together and seek a solution through diplomacy and dialogue," the MEA spokesperson said, adding that India has always stood on the side of peace.

"He shouldn't have allowed this to happen either, you know. He's no angel, he shouldn't have allowed this war to happen. First of all, he's fighting a much bigger entity... When he was, you know, talking, so brave... They were brave, but we gave them billions of dollars. The United States spent $200 billion more than Europe," Trump told the broadcaster.
