Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is in India on a state visit and will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade, celebrated in India on 26 January.
India and Indonesia will enhance collaboration in the areas of defence, financial technology and artificial intelligence, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto have announced.
"We have decided to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as fintech, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and digital public infrastructure," Modi told reporters at a joint press conference.
"2025 will be celebrated as the India-ASEAN Year of Tourism, which will also promote cultural exchange and tourism between India and Indonesia," he added.
The Indian leader said both countries were "committed to ensuring peace, security, prosperity, and the rule of law."
He added that the leaders discussed aspects of mutual cooperation during their talks.
"To expand collaboration in the defence sector, we have decided to work together in defence production and supply," Modi said. "We also emphasised cooperation in maritime security, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and de-radicalisation."
Modi and Subianto also signed an agreement on maritime security which will "further enhance our cooperation in crime prevention, search and rescue operations, and capacity building," the Indian prime minister added.
