The world through the eyes of young photographers is on full display at the 4th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest Exhibition, running until April 10 at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) Gallery in New Delhi.This global showcase, organised by Olga Dycheva, Head of the Representative Office of MIA Rossiya Segodnya/Sputnik in India, features 65 powerful photographs from emerging talents across the globe, including countries such as Russia, India, Bangladesh, China, Italy, Myanmar, South Africa, Spain, and Syria.The exhibition was inaugurated by chief guest Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharati, alongside Roman Babushkin, Minister of Counsellor and Deputy Chief of the Mission; Alexander Shtol, Executive Director of The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest; and Rishabh Gulati, Editor-in-Chief of NewsX.This event not only highlights the talent of young photographers but also serves as a vital medium for fostering India-Russia relations through the universal language of photography.Speaking about the significance of the contest, Olga Dycheva expressed her pride in the exhibition’s growth.Navneet Sehgal emphasised the importance of cultural exchanges between India and Russia, highlighting the courage of photographers who capture the harsh realities of war and social issues.“India and Russia share a long-standing relationship, and cultural exchanges like this exhibition are key in fostering deeper ties,” he said.Roman Babushkin echoed these sentiments, remarking on the emotional impact of the photographs.“This exhibition is not just about photography; it’s about sharing our stories and raising awareness about what’s happening in the world,” he said.Alexander Shtol celebrated the milestone of the contest, which marks its tenth anniversary this year.He expressed hope for increased participation from Indian photographers in future editions, reinforcing the idea that art can foster deeper connections between nations.“We are very proud of the contest’s growth over the years, and this year marks a special milestone for us. It’s been a challenging decade, especially with the pandemic, but the resilience of the artists and their commitment to capturing important moments in history is truly inspiring,” Shtol concluded.

exhibition’s growth.“The highest number of applications for the contest came from India, which speaks to the immense talent and enthusiasm we have here. This exhibition is about more than just art; it’s about fostering people-to-people diplomacy through the universal language of photography,” Dycheva said.
Navneet Sehgal emphasised the importance of cultural exchanges between India and Russia, highlighting the courage of photographers who capture the harsh realities of war and social issues.
“India and Russia share a long-standing relationship, and cultural exchanges like this exhibition are key in fostering deeper ties,” he said.
“Press photography comes after a lot of challenges. These photographs are not just beautiful images; they reflect the courage and determination of photographers who capture moments, often at great risk to their own safety.”
Roman Babushkin echoed these sentiments, remarking on the emotional impact of the photographs.
“This exhibition is not just about photography; it’s about sharing our stories and raising awareness about what’s happening in the world,” he said.
“These pictures help us to raise awareness about what is unknown. They evoke emotions and encourage us to explore deeper. It is through such events that we strengthen our diplomatic and people-to-people relations,” Babushkin added.
Alexander Shtol celebrated the milestone of the contest, which marks its tenth anniversary this year.
“Photography is a universal language. It doesn’t matter what language we speak; these images connect us, allowing us to understand each other’s joys, pains, and struggles. It brings India, Russia, and the whole world closer,” Shtol said.
He expressed hope for increased participation from Indian photographers in future editions, reinforcing the idea that art can foster deeper connections between nations.
“We are very proud of the contest’s growth over the years, and this year marks a special milestone for us.
